What Pro is
Wire Goose is free, and watches. Wire Goose Pro adds blocking, Quit and Kill, Reveal in Finder, exports, the table, and every day kept. It is one payment, $24.99, and the key it gives you works for every 1.x release.
Buying
Your email address and a card, on the Pro page. There is no account to make. The payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card. The moment it clears, the key appears on the page and arrives by email from admin@8thbyte.com. Keep that email: it is your receipt for the key.
Try the free build first. It is the same app, and everything Pro adds is already visible in it with a small lock beside it.
Entering the key
Open Wire Goose, choose Settings, paste the key into the Licence field and press Save. The line under the field says where you stand, in one of four ways:
- No key. Wire Goose Pro adds blocking, Quit and Kill, Reveal in Finder, exports, the table, and every day kept. The field is empty.
- That does not look like a Wire Goose key. Keys start with WG1-. Something other than a key was pasted: check the email, and paste the whole line.
- That key was not issued by Wire Goose, or has been withdrawn. The key does not verify, or it was published and has been withdrawn in this release. Write to us from the email you bought with.
- Licensed to your@email. Wire Goose Pro, for every 1.x release. Done. The locks are gone, and the history strip shows every day kept.
Capital O and zero, I, l and 1 are read as the same letters, and spaces and hyphens are ignored, so a retyped key still works.
Where it works
On every computer you use, as long as you are the only user. The key is checked on your computer, against a public key inside the app; nothing is checked online, and Wire Goose never connects to anything to ask. The name inside the key is the email you bought with, which is what the app shows after "Licensed to".
Lost keys
Write to admin@8thbyte.com from the email you bought with, and the key is sent again.
Shared keys
A key carries your email, so a key that is published publishes your address. A key found published is withdrawn: its serial goes into the next release, and that release answers it with the "withdrawn" line above. If yours was withdrawn and you did not publish it, write to us.
